30 GIRLS SENTENCED TO PRISON IN LAGOS STATE..

According to a Magistrates Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos, State. It has sentenced thirty young ladies to six weeks imprisonment for prostitution. The accused were tried and convicted for
prostitution and breach of peace. Mrs O. Odusanya, The Magistrate sentenced all of them to six weeks in prison each. The girls which are popularly called "Ashawo, during their arraignment on Monday pleaded guilty to the offence and blamed the devil for pushing them into prostitution. They were all arrested at Obalende area of Lagos at 2 a.m. The magistrate therefore ruled: "You are hereby sentenced to six weeks imprisonment with an option of N10,000 fine each."
