All our 109 Senators yesterday shunned the Facebook and other social media training organised for them by the office of the Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki. This workshop which was organised for the senators and was aimed at strengthening their use of Facebook and other Social media for effective
communication the issues relating to public policy and good governance.
However, less than 10 per cent of the aides of the Senators attended the training held at Room 301 of the senate building in Abuja. It was also observed that majority of the aides are from the Senate President’s office while few of their colleagues from other senators joined after the training had already started.
Head of Politics and Governance outreach of Facebook, Ms. Elizabeth tutored the few aides in attendance on Facebook's live broadcast and how to operate a Facebook page.
The Senate President, through his Chief of Staff, Senator Isa Galaudu, had explained that the training was in line with the promise of the Senate President in bringing about, a more representative legislature through the use of technology and e- parliamentary tools.
