THE MATHEMATICS OF MARRIAGE BY PASTOR E.A. ADEBOYE.

Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has established a link between Mathematics and marriage. He did this when he delivered a lecture at the first annual lecture of the Pastor E.A. Adeboye Professorial Chair for mathematics. Below are the excerpts of this lecture.
Mathematics is the science of life, and the reason why I’ve been married for 47 years and I’m still on honeymoon is because I know the mathematics of marriage. Marriage can be reduced to a series of simultaneous linear equations; we’ll look at some of these equations.
Equation 1 of marriage is that love is blind; we will find this in proverbs 10 verse 12, where it says love covers all sins and you don’t see any wrong in whatever your love does. For example, when you go to visit your bride-to-be and she serves you pepper soup and there is more pepper than soup, when she notices you are almost grasping for breath she says I’m sorry it looks as if I’ve put too much pepper, you find an excuse for her, something like “I have cold and thanks for the peppery food, I feel better”.

Equation 2 is that marriage is a miracle worker with special anointing of opening blind eyes, you can back that up with a story in Genesis 29 verse 16 to 25 which tells us about a young man who was madly in love with a woman named Rachel but on the day of the wedding, the father-in-law switched the bride and gave him Leah instead of Rachel but the bible says Leah was not that beautiful while Rachel was full of beauty but this man was so madly in love that he didn’t know who he was sleeping with until the following morning, after which he realized that he has been shortchanged, his eyes was opened, and so you realize that marriage is a miracle worker with a special anointing that opens blind eyes.

If you solve these two equations, you will discover that while love is blind, marriage will open your eyes so that some of the things you didn’t see when in courtship becomes visible after the first night of marriage. But if you need to correct some things that you noticed in your spouse after marriage, you simply use mathematics, for example if you want to tell your wife not to burn a hole in your intestine with so much pepper ,you don’t say why are you putting so much pepper in our soup, no, you just approach her and say my mathematics teacher was a very funny man, when he was teaching us the law of inverse proportion he said that the amount of pepper in the soup should be inversely proportional to the temperature in the city, so that when the temperature is high, the amount of pepper should be low.

We look at two other equations;

Equation 3 is that angels don’t eat jollof rice, which is backed up from Judges chapter 6 verse 11 to 16, an angel visited Gideon and he prepared him food, the angel didn’t eat the food, he just poured it on the rock and consumed it by fire.

Equation 4 is that angels don’t marry, according to Matthew 22 verse 30.

 If we solve equations 3 and 4 simultaneously, the result is that the lady you are getting married to is not an angel because she eats jollof rice and then you are married to her, and the fact that you are married to her at all means that you are also not an angel so you should not expect your wife to be an angel because you are also not an angel, knowing that will solve a lot of problems because when you suddenly begin to live together and you discover certain things, then it’ll occur to you that she may be dressed like an angel on the wedding day but she’s actually not an angel. So you take her as a human prone to mistakes and errors.

We can go on and on and get many equations but I would rather conclude by saying that ‘mathematics is a science of living and one of the greatest ways of making rapid progress is by allowing Jesus Christ to come into one’s life, which can be proved mathematically, because in John chapter 9 verse 5, Jesus said ‘I am the light of the world’, and mathematicians will tell u that light travels at the speed of 300,000 kms/sec approximately, so if you want to begin to travel at the speed of light in your academics, in everything in life, if you want your progress to be rapid, then invite the light of the world to your life and things will change.

So I encourage you to please think seriously about this because you will discover that your progress will become almost like that of the speed of light the moment you allow Jesus to come in.

Just as simple as that..
