There was a violence clash yesterday in the ancient city of Ile-Ife following the appointment of a new Obalufe of the town, in person of Comrade Idowu Olaniyi Adediwura by the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi. According to sources, it was gathered that the diverstating clash took place in the palace of Ooni of Ife when two ruling families, Oga and Jaojo ruling families which both
lay claim to the throne clashed over who should produce the Obalufe. The position of Obalufe, which is the second in command to the Ooni of Ife became vacant when the late Oba Folorunso Omisakin died on October 15 2015.
Vanguard reports also has it that one of the ruling houses in a publication accused Lowa, Obaloran, Obajio and Jaaran for allegedly collecting ‘bribe’ to favour Adediwura. Well, Four royal houses are entitled to occupy the position of Obalufe. They are Ajagbusi, Ado Gbodo, Aga and Jaojo. The last Obalufe it was gathered, hailed from the Ado Gbodo ruling house. On his part, President of Obalufe Progressive Youth Club, Prince Arogundade Taiwo, said interviews were conducted for all the aspirants for the position before an outstanding candidate emerged among them.
