Oduduwa University, Ipetumodu and two other universities; Rhema University and Achievers University, Owo have made the list of universities that have received full operational licences to operate as private universities in Nigeria by the National Universities Commission.
A Certificate of Attestation dated 26th of August 31, 2015 signed personally by the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission, Prof. Julius Okojie stated that “… Oduduwa University, Ipetumodu having fulfilled the requirements laid down in Education, (National Minimum Standards and Establishment of Institutions) Act , Cap E3 Laws of the federation of Nigeria 2004 and completed the required post-probation period, is fully licenced to operate as a private university in Nigeria.”
The certificate of Attestation also added that the original certificate would be issued to the University in due course.
It would be recalled that the National Universities Commission recently granted nine private universities full operational licence even as it denied eleven private universities due to what it termed their inability to meet up with accreditation requirements.
The universities that received full operational licence included; Caleb University, Salem University, Veritas University, Afe Babalola University, Godfrey Okoye University, Adeleke University and Western Delta University.
Eleven universities; Wesley University of Science, Landmark University, Rhema University, Samuel Adegboyega University, Paul University, Oduduwa University, Tanzania University, Baze University, Obong University, Achievers University and Well Spring University were among universities that were given two years extension to re-access their staff strength to student ratio and its facilities.
However, with the new development, Oduduwa University Ipetumodu, Rhema University and Achievers University Owo have joined the league of universities that have been granted full licence to operate as universities.
