In a bid to boost her academic profile and potential, and to further give her a competitive edge among private universities in Nigeria, Oduduwa University Ipetumodu had earlier, met with representatives of University of Education, Wenneba, Ghana who were currently in Nigeria to open talks on a proposed collaboration program between the two institutions.
The three-man representatives of University of Education from Ghana which was led by Professor Samuel Asiedu-Addoh, a professor of Mathematics education, came to OUI on facts finding mission and to begin talks on the proposed collaboration and exchange of programs between the two Universities. The other two members of the team from Ghana were Mr. Godwill Andoh-Messah; the deputy internal Auditor and Mr. Francis Amorni who is the Head of treasury, endowment management of the school.The representatives were well received Proprietor of OUI, Dr. Ramon Adedoyin; the Registrar, Dr. Ofonedo; the Executive Assistant to the proprietor, Mrs. Adeline Adeyemi; the provost of college management and social science, Dr. CIN Uche and members of the University’s Committee on Centre for International Linkages represented by Dr. Lucky Esuh, who is the director of the committee and Mrs. Olokun Funmilayo, his deputy.
The President, Chairman Board of Trustees of OUI, Chief. (Dr) RA Adedoyin, in his welcome address, expressed his determination to always support collaborative efforts, in students and staff exchange in a bid to boost the academic efforts of the two universities. Also, in her remark, Mrs Adeline Adeyemi welcomed and expressed the management’s support for any collaboration with foreign universities that will make Oduduwa University rank among the best in Nigeria.
Areas of interest for collaboration include staff and students exchange programs as well as cultural/innovative academic exchange programs. Modalities of programs execution were discussed at the meeting but conclusion could not be reached on the mode of funding at this level. However, this will be ironed out at the subsequent meeting between the two universities. The visitors were later conducted round to see the facilities on ground at the campus. Speaking to OUI Press newsmen, the leader of the team from Ghana, Prof Aseidu stated that the conditions for the programs include the school being accredited by the Federal government and having a stable account. He also expressed satisfaction with the school’s environment and the educational infrastructure on ground at the school.
Other universities slated for collaboration are, among others; University of Cape-coast Ghana, Ghana Institution of Management and Public administration, Ghana; Cyprus Institute of Marketing, Cyprus; Ama University, India and University of Gloucestershire in United Kingdom.
Apparently, OUI is moving forward as one of the best Universities in Nigeria and would also be recognized in Ghana is this programs is approved.
